In the name of Allah, Most Gracious Most Merciful,
Blessings my beloved Mystic, Psycho, Babble Readers. I’d like to get something of my chest if you dont mind.
As I mentioned Ive been working on a few things over the summer in preparation for the fall. One of those is building my portfolio of web design over at www.ohsnaap.com. The Editor of Taqwa Magazine invited me to contribute an article. While discussing it they mentioned the need of assistance with their web site.
Long story short, I revamped the site, and wrote the article, and learned a lot in the process Alhumdulilah.
The article I wrote was about setting goals, and striving for something in life. We often think of goals in the since of making more money, or getting a degree or something. But we dont really think long term, and I mean really long term. I like to work my way backwards with these things.
What is your overall goal in life and more importantly in death? It really bugs me, frstrates me, and even angers me when people say they have no goals. They have accomplished everything they could ever want in life. Seriously, your life is perfect, you have nothing else to learn, no areas to grow in, you are content with who you are until you die?
When I think of goals I dont think of material, I think of overall self. Lifestyle, inner life and how your day to day activities have a purpose in fullfilling that. So when someone says I have no goals, I feel bad for them and it hurts me to my core, but it also brings us an anger inside. I dont know where this anger comes from. I guess a dislike for those who dont strive, who are lazy, and just walk around living, or shall I say surviving. Because to me, living is working toward a goal. Making meaning in what you do. Having a purpose. How can you have a purpose if you have no goal? How can you strive, if you have nothing in which to strive for? Its as if you have all ready died. The person you were today is the best person you can be, and you will be content being that person in 5-10 years from now?
Maybe Im wrong, and someone needs to enlighten me, but we are all here for a purpose. Can you honestly say you have fullfilled that purpose and there is nothing else left for you?
